Barney Frank Rate this Nominee   Current Rating: click to rate

Nominee's Background:

U.S. House of Representatives 1980-present Lecturer, Harvard JFK School of Government, 1978-1980 Massachusetts House of Representatives 1973-1980 Harvard University B.A. 1962, J.D. 1977

Nominating Speech:
According to the American Almanac of Politics, Barney Frank is "one of the smartest talkers and best debaters" in Congress. "One of the intellectual and political leaders of the Democratic Party in the House, political theorist and pit bull at the same time."

According to Congressional Quarterly, he is "candid, self-depricating, combative and clever... In an era when floor 'debate' is often just a recitation of boilerplate rhetoric, Frank is spontaneous combustion, passionately making his liberal case with off-the-cuff, rapid-fire -- and tightly reasoned -- arguments.

Barney Frank quote regarding the Republican Party: "The right hand doesn't know what the far right hand is doing."

Frank has been a leading liberal, frequently speaking out on matters others would like to sweep under the rug. His voting record is certainly among the most progressive.

America needs an unabashed liberal with keen intellect as attorney general to undo the damage of the Bush years.
