We the People featured at NW Folklife Festival this weekend!

Two copies will be at Seattle Center this weekend at the NW Folklife Festival, one at the Mural Amphitheater Stage, near the Space Needle and another in the International Fountain Pavilion, with pens for signing. Use this chance to add your signature in time for it to be taken to DC this July 4th!

Over the last 19 years, Backbone's giant We the People banner has served as an icon of people power and our aspirations to fulfill the shared mission of creating a more perfect union. Adding two more Preamble sections has allowed it to appear in even more cities in the past year, collecting signatures and grabbing the attention of the press and public as a symbol of resistance and resilience.

Because of the hard work of volunteers on Vashon Island, we now have three copies of the We the People Preamble, and many signature extensions. Two of those copies will be at Seattle Center this weekend at the NW Folklife Festival - one at the Mural Amphitheater Stage, near the Space Needle.  Enjoy some music and performances while seeing the inspiring banner our country's democracy was founded on.

Thanks to an amazing team of Backbone volunteers on Vashon Island, additional signature extensions are being created each week so that this July 4th, it will take the streets of DC at a phenomenal length of over 700 feet!

Donate HERE to help send our biggest team ever and 1,000lbs of We the People & props to Washington, DC!

WHAT'S NEXT: We the People 250 -  July 4, 2026 in DC

The upcoming deployment of the giant We the People in Washington, DC on July 4, 2026 represents an important milestone in this project. After nearly two decades of touring the country, the We the People banner - with its tens of thousands of signatures, on over 700 feet of canvas - will take the streets of DC. Since the Trump Administration has refused to issue permits, a brave collection of people from across the country will engage in an un-permitted march, exercising the rights guaranteed to them in the First Amendment. This expression of patriotism, resolve, and liberty will call forth all Americans to embrace the common cause of championing the unifying mission and principles expressed in this Preamble to our Constitution.

Amidst this moment of national crisis, unprecedented corruption, and concentration of unchecked executive power by the Trump Administration, we stand not merely in opposition, but lean into the proposition in Order to form a more perfect Union. The DC action will be a Procession for the Future, an assertion of a vision for the future in which the arc of history continues to bend toward justice, expands liberty, and increases the welfare of all.

Please use the links to learn more and pitch in to support this work.

Don’t forget to head to Seattle Center to add your signature to the We the People, this weekend only!
