Backbone Campaign sent a crew and our truck filled with supplies to Standing Rock in the last days of November. They delivered tons of supplies and personal gear of veterans from Washington State.
The heroic crew survived Arctic weather, horrible road conditions and two went to the emergency room as soon as they got back for serious health issues. Thank you to many who helped get it the truck ready for this trip, contributed to fuel and insurance.
We are still trying to cover fuel expenses from this recent trip - AND - we just got a request for a generator to help those who are remaining at Standing Rock to survive the winter. It needs to be a quality generator and we located one in Minot, ND a hundred miles from the camp. Rather than risking the well being of people with another long journey, we'd like to purchase the generator and have local allies pick it up in Minot.
As ever, we are tremendously proud to have been in solidarity with the veterans who went to Standing Rock and Paul Cheoketen Wagner's Winter Shelter Project. Mostly though, we are honored to have played a small part in supporting all those courageous, nonviolent warriors at Standing Rock who have ignited a transformational movement to protect the sacred.
Please consider doing what you can at this dynamic moment in this struggle. Read this update from our allies at Indigenous Environmental Network, Honor the Earth and others. What’s Next for Water Protectors at Standing Rock.
In Solidarity & Gratitude!
