"Faces Places" Backbone Meaningful Movies - Film Screening

Backbone Meaningful Movies and Vashon High School present “Faces Places,” an award-winning French documentary, Tuesday, May 8th, 5pm.  A panel discussion by students, children, elders, and artists will follow the screening. Students have been creating art inspired by the film and the work of JR, and the artwork will be on display.

In the film, 89-year old Agnes Varda, one of the leading figures of the French New Wave, and acclaimed 35 year-old French photographer and muralist JR teamed up to co-direct this enchanting documentary. Kindred spirits, Varda and JR travel around the villages of France in JR’s photo truck meeting locals, learning their stories and producing epic-size portraits of them.

Admission is by donation, with no one turned away for lack of funds.  Youth are always free! Thanks to Vashon Theatre and Island Green Tech for their support, as well as the King County CSA Grant Program and Vashon Island High School.
