  • We the People in the DC Streets, July 4, 2026

Thursday, June 04, 2026 at 08:30 AM · George Gordon Meade Memorial, Washington DC in

    Meet Us in DC!

Join the Team Backbone Campaign and our We the People 250 allies on Saturday, July 4th as we roll out 700 feet of We the People, in the streets of DC.

RSVP below, and we'll follow up with you regarding logistics.

    What's Happening:

On July 4th - our nation’s 250th birthday - the We the People 250 will roll out Backbone's massive We the People as an expression of resistance and resilience.

The We the People Constitution Preamble banner will be 700 feet long, with tens of thousands of signatures and messages

We need your help to pull this off We estimate it will take approximately 350 people holding the We the People to move it through the streets, to the National Mall.

Please Note: Since the Trump Administration has refused to issue permits, this march will be un-permitted

The event is free and open to the public. Organizers note that while the march is peaceful, it is geared toward adults given the government’s violent posture. They encourage participants to bring friends and fellow community members rather than young children.

Attendees are advised to prepare for a July afternoon in Washington—water, sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable walking shoes—and to arrive at the meeting point by noon. though other signs, banners, and flags are welcome, we need as many people as possible to come ready to help with the giant banner.

Organizers ask everyone to keep the march peaceful and to speak their minds. By RSVP'ing you are agreeing to Backbone Campaign's Pledge of Nonviolence.

WHEN: Meet us at Noon on July 4th (Come at 11am if you want to help with set up.)

WHERE: The meeting location is now the George Gordon Meade Memorial.

Gather at the George Gordon Meade Memorial (see on map), across the street from National Gallery of Art - East Building.
    Closest Metro: Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter (Green & Yellow lines)Bus options: 230, 250, 735, 850

By signing up here, we will be able to alert you to these details and changes in as timely a manner as feasible.

Though no contribution is required to take part, please consider making tax-deductible contributions toward Backbone Campaign's effort to bring a team and the giant We the People HERE

  • Procession for the Future Banner Build

Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM · Backbone Warehouse

Help us create some colorful banners, in the Procession for the Future style!

These new banners will feature messages like Medicare for All, Dismantle White Supremacy, Overturn Citizens United - and several others that address today's issues.

Can you help?  We need teams who can trace letter templates onto the adhesive backed fabric, cut out letters, affix them to the background material, sew sleeves for PVC, and more. Thanks to our dear friend Cathy Fulton, we have the layout of the new signs figured out - we just need folks with some attention to detail who can help.

    • Friday, June 19 (11am-4pm)

    Location: Backbone Warehouse

If you can join us for any of that time, please let us know by RSVP'ing Below.
