Now the community is represented with democratic ownership over the financial institution, opening the doors for micro-lending, reduced interests rates, and investments that reflect the community's values. Ultimately, by creating a democratically run community-based financial institution we are able to redirect the flow of equity that was leaking out and cycle that back into the local economy making a real difference in people's lives.
