In light of public health, community safety, and increasing restrictions on convenings and
movement, folks could be feeling more isolated, and our connections to each other and the land seem even more important.
Who knows what the economy will do, but wouldn't it be great if we could help make sure there is food for everyone on our Island?
Vashon Island farmers recently joined for a discussion hosted by Backbone Campaign
Join the conversation - this moment needs your creativity, skills and ideas.
Topics we covered:
- What steps might we be able to take to get more food planted and harvested in the coming months?
- Besides that, what sort of processing capacity do we have available locally?
- What do we need?
- How can people help?
- And how can we be sure that we develop protocols for people to work together safely?
While the discussion was centered around Vashon Island - home of Backbone's HQ - information will likely be relevant for many communities.
Thanks to all who joined the conversation. This moment needs all of our creativity, skills and ideas.
