Volunteer Support - Protect Mother Earth Conference, Nisqually

Backbone Campaign has been asked to provide support for the Protect Mother Earth Conference in solidarity with our longtime ally Indigenous Environmental Network, (IEN).  We have been asked to gather supplies and recruit volunteers to help with a variety of tasks leading up to the event, and helping with post-event clean up.
For info about the event: www.ienearth.org/pme2018.(See poster below)

Volunteer Needs - Drivers, Greeters, Set up, Clean up:

Do you have a van and/or can you drive one or more shuttle trips between SeaTac-Nisqually June 26-July 1?
We have been asked to help with pick up of indigenous leaders and transport them to the Conference site on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday, and from Nisqually to SeaTac on Sunday/Monday.  If you cannot drive yourself but have a van to lend -- or can drive but don't have a van -- let us know by sending an email to [email protected] with "PME-Shuttle" in the subject line with details on how you can help out.

Can you help with Set Up Day on Tuesday, June 26th, to construct tents, organize workshop spaces, and help with other hand on infrastructure needs? Send us an email indicating availability and readiness to pitch in to [email protected] with "PME Set-up June 26" in the subject line.

A Hospitality Crew is needed Wednesday, June 27th to help get folks set up in borrowed tents and gear. If you can help out this day, send an email to [email protected] with "PME set-up June 27" in the subject line to indicate your availability and readiness to pitch in.

Infrastructure Needs:

Can you lend:

  • teepee poles?
  • large canvas tarps for sweat lodges?
  • tents and sleeping gear for those who arrive without it?
  • portable solar arrays for powering gathering and presentation spaces?

If yes to gear lending, please send an email to [email protected] with "Gear for PME" in the subject and let us know what you can provide.  We will need this gear at Backbone office by Monday June 25th or delivered to the PME site in Nisqually by Monday June 25th.
Call to make arrangements either way, 206-408-8058.

Thank you for stepping up to help our indigenous allies Protect Mother Earth.
