Banner Build for Rapid Response Bannering for Wild Salmon

Backbone is hosting a banner build on Sunday, 1-3pm on Vashon, and we could use your help!

RSVP BELOW

As you may know, earlier this year, Representative Mike Simpson, a Republican Congressman from Eastern Idaho, released his proposal to restore the Lower Snake River so the wild salmon populations have a chance at recovery.  Without this Plan, the salmon will go extinct.

Word from those following this issue is that the NW Congressional Delegation, which has been quiet in response to the Plan, is awaiting leadership from our Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray.

At this point, our job is to demonstrate to Senators Cantwell and Murray that dam removal is supported at the grassroots level, by a wide section of people.

To that end, Backbone is creating multiple banners that read

Murray & Cantwell

Save Wild Salmon

Restore Snake River

We will share these completed banners with communities across the State - Bellingham, Wenatchee, Spokane, Olympia, Ellensburg, Seattle, Olympic Peninsula, Vancouver.

Will you show up on Sunday, 1-3 for a work party to make banners?  We'll be tracing letters, cutting out, affixing the letters to deer fencing and prepping the banners for shipping.  We'll be working outside, on the grass, using COVID-safe distancing and wearing masks.

RSVP below and we'll follow up with you.

Thanks for being willing to commit a few hours on Sunday to restore the wild salmon of the Lower Snake River!
