The Vashon Island Unitarian Fellowship and La Resistencia visit the Tacoma Northwest Detention Center to support detainees. 

Every second Saturday of the month, VIUF holds their Immigration Visitor Support/Vigil providing visitor support to friends and family visiting detainees at Tacoma NWDC (recently rebranded to the Northwest ICE Processing Center). This month, October 12 marked the official launch of La Resistencia's official "concerted statewide effort to end detentions and deportations" in Washington State. 

La Resistencia wrote, "We believe in ending immigration detention. As such, we call for the shutdown of the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma, Washington. Immigration detention has no place in Washington State, or anywhere else. We believe that immigrants belong with their families and communities."
