On Vashon, Monday March 27th - Create Art for the World We Want!

Help us leap into preparations for Earth Day and more!

Bring a friend or family member for a break from the doldrums and make art for positive change.

This last month Backbone actions and imagery were featured in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Kiro TV, King 5 TV, Grist and more. Behind the scene are the volunteers like you lending a hand and helping to inspire the next wave of change agents to step into their courage and take action!

Join us Monday the 27th for art-making, commiserating, and creating the world we yearn for and deserve!

  • No skills necessary.
  • Dress for a slight mess.
  • Find cathartic release working with your hands.
  • Bring your friends or kiddos!
  • Dress warm (the warehouse can be cool).
  • Feel free to bring snacks, food, or beverages to share.
  • Tools and supplies you can bring if you have them: pencils for tracing extra brown paper shopping bags, any spare adult-sized football/lacrosse/baseball batting/motorcycle helmets.

Location: Warehouse of the Sheffield Building at 18850 103rd Ave SW. Look for the Illuminated LED Thumbs-up Sign and Ring the buzzer of the red door adjacent to the large south-facing warehouse door or call 805-776-3882.

Activities: Help us trace out the continents in preparation for painting and sewing of two 10 foot inflatable Earth Globes. We're papier-macheing our 4th Trump Bobble-head puppet, assembling banners for taking to freeway overpasses, sewing props and more!
**** Please let us know if you have any painting experience or expertise or availability to help between the 28th of March and the 10th of April. We have an ambitious plan to paint scenery on over 300 square feet of fabric for our upcoming sewing workshops. Please email [email protected] or text/call 805-776-3882.
