Thursday 9/14/17 Kayaktivist Training for Flotilla Against Fish Pens

Protect Our Salish SeaThis Thursday at Alki Kayaks get skilled up to join the Our Sound, Our Salmon Flotilla to launch the campaign to ban Atlantic Salmon Fish Farms in Washington State.

We're hosting this paddling and kayakstivist skills training so you can safely and fully enjoy your time on the water at the flotilla and be ready to lend a hand making the action bold and beautiful. Practice your paddle skills to better maneuver your boat, join the rafting-up and de-rafting drills and learn how to safely hoist large on-water banners to broadcast our message and values. (Note, this is not a rescue training).

Backbone is teaming up with Our Sound, Our Salmon to protect the Salish Sea from diseased and parasite ridden non-native Atlantic Salmon. Every Pacific state except for Washington has banned Atlantic Salmon Net Pens. It's time Washington join the ranks of Alaska, Oregon, and California who have already taken action to protect the health of their native wild salmon and waters.

If you haven't come to a Kayaktivist training yet, or it's been a while, this is your chance! See you Thursday.
