Farming and Food Security

UPDATE: The number of RSVPs has exceeded our Zoom limitations.  It is likely that not everyone who RSVPed will actually join the call.  If, in the remote chance you cannot enter the meeting, it will be streamed on the Backbone facebook page (and the recording will be posted if you want to watch it later), so check out that space as well.
In light of public health, community safety, and increasing restrictions on convenings and movement, folks could be feeling more isolated, and our connections to each other and the land seem even more important.
Who knows what the economy will do, but wouldn't it be great if we could help make sure there is food for everyone on our Island?
Join Vashon Island farmers in a discussion hosted by Backbone Campaign ED Bill Moyer on Monday, March 16th, at 4pm (PACIFIC)/7pm (EASTERN).  RSVP below to get the log on info to join the call.
Topics we will cover:
  • What steps might we be able to take to get more food planted and harvested in the coming months?
  • Besides that, what sort of processing capacity do we have available locally?
  • What do we need?
  • How can people help?
  • And how can we be sure that we develop protocols for people to work together safely?

While the discussion will be centered around Vashon Island - home of Backbone's HQ - information will likely be relevant for many communities.

Join the conversation - this moment needs your creativity, skills and ideas.
