Living With Conviction-Community Gallery Walk & Conversation

Vashon SURJ and Backbone Campaign are partnering with Living with Conviction to present a visual storytelling experience, July 8-August 5th. 14 Island businesses will be showing portraits of people who have experienced incarceration and who are currently fighting to avoid the cycle of debtor's prisons.

Visit these businesses, July 8th - August 5th, to see the portraits and read the personal stories. Then join us a Community Conversation on Sunday, August 5, 4-6 pm at the Vashon Land Trust building, focusing on Legal Financial Obligations (LFOs) that courts impose on criminal defendants at the time of sentencing, sentencing many to debt for life.

Portraits can be seen at Gather, Giraffe, Gravy, the Vashon Library, Pure Organic Kitchen, Raven's Nest, Rock It!, Starving Artist Works, Snapdragon, Treasure Island, Vashon Bookshop, Vashon Island Baking Company, Vashon Print & Design, and Zamorana.
