On July 4th — our nation's 250th birthday — Backbone Campaign will unveil one of the most massive banners ever created: a 700-foot We the People, the US Constitution Preamble carrying tens of thousands of signatures and messages, representing our nation's unifying social contract, mission statement, and aspiration to form a more perfect Union. This is a light that can shine through the cracks in our current dark times.

We the People includes you! And we need your help to pull off this deployment and the work that will follow it.  Please contribute to this and our ongoing efforts to sculpt a progressive movement that is enrolling and growing in its brilliance, vision, and impact.

We've been preparing for this for over a year. Our heroic Builder's Guild has been sewing, painting, and building nonstop since February. And thanks to our Ohio collaborators, we just completed a successful two-month tour to every corner of the State, where We the People was received with overwhelming joy — even in "red” cities. This interactive art truly bridges divides.

Backbone uses artistic props and tools as joyous, optimistic expressions of the promise of a more perfect union —one that is truly of, by, and for the people. We can interrupt the MAGA trance — and transcend divide and conquer politics  — with something so beautiful it reaches people at their core. That's how cracks form. That's how the light gets in.

Our creativity is the light that shines through the cracks. It is only with audacious creativity that we will inspire the courage for common cause necessary to accomplish the paradigm shift required to deliver a nation and a future worthy of our children. Together we are shining that light.

As you have likely witnessed, Backbone has experienced an incredible surge of impact over the last year and a half. The broad adoption of our techniques, the ubiquitousness of our imagery in the media and online, and the scale and scope of our collaborations compel us to embrace further growth. 

• Our We the People actions and the amazing Ohio Tour provide a model to be replicated in other states. 

• Our Procession for the Future provides a template for defining our movement according to what we propose, not merely what we oppose.

• And, hundreds of communities could still benefit from access to our light projection and banner tools to amplify their voices, values, and aspirations. 

But only with additional capacity can we adequately leverage this moment of challenge and opportunity.
