Get ready for this May's global wave of action. #BreakFree from dirty energy and practice paddling with Sunday's Kayaktivism training!
This training is open to all, no boat or prior experience needed. Learn how to paddle for the 1st time, get tips and tricks from fellow kayaktivists.
This May, people from Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Vancouver, and beyond are converging at Anacortes, WA to push for a pivot away from dirty fossil fuels and towards a renewable powered society that stabilizes our climate and protects the health and well-being of our communities. Whatever your interest are there are many ways to get involved from family-friendly participation to direct actions aimed at interrupting fossil fuel infrastructure.
To join in on the water-based fun and protests, bring you and your friends to this Kayaktivism training!
Build community and Learn:
- Crucial paddle strokes
- How to raft up and hoist banners
- Communicate and paddle as a team and more
While there isn't a kayaktivist certificate or merit badge, (in addition to kayaktivism visibility and protest tactics) these trainings now emphasize and highlight paddle skills you'd be hard press to find outside of official American Canoe Association instructor trainings and at a fraction of the costs.
We work to make kayaktivism accessible to all. Please consider pitching-in after you RSVP on the following page. It costs about $400 to put this training together. If you are bringing your own boat text Eric at 805-776-3882 or email [email protected]
Mosquito Fleet and Backbone Campaign are helping to host this training at the site of last year's infamous showdown with Shell's icebreaker the Fennica.
